Progressive Willow Basketry Course - Beginners
Spend four relaxed and creative mornings discovering the traditional heritage craft of willow basketmaking. Designed especially for beginners, this progressive course gives you the opportunity to slow down, learn step-by-step and enjoy the mindful rhythm of weaving with beautiful locally grown willow.
With small group sizes and plenty of individual guidance, each 3-hour session allows time to explore techniques, build confidence, and enjoy the satisfaction of creating something entirely by hand. By the end of the course, you’ll have crafted your own beautiful willow basket to take home and the skills to continue your weaving journey.
Over the four weeks you will:
Week 1: Weave the basket base
Week 2: Stake up and shape the sides
Week 3: Explore decorative side weaving patterns
Week 4: Add a traditional border and optional handle
Expect a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, plenty of creativity and the simple pleasure of working with natural materials in good company.
Outcome:
A completed handwoven willow basket to take home, along with new traditional skills and a wonderfully relaxing creative experience.
